Audits and Accreditations
ExamWorks completed the SSAE 16 SOC 1 Type 2 Audit which was conducted by a certified third-party auditor. The SSAE 16 examination, based on an updated standard developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, is intended for reports on controls at a service organization that are likely to be relevant to clients’ internal controls over financial reporting. An engagement and subsequent report performed under this standard is known as a Service Organization Controls (SOC) 1 Report. The SOC 1 Report is appropriate for organizations that provide services to another organization; the ExamWorks SOC 1 Report includes an exhaustive review of the company’s control environment, risk assessment, monitoring, information systems and communications.
ExamWorks provides independent medical examination and review services to its clients that involve securing data, managing records and processing transactions to perform these services. The SSAE 16 audit provides an independent assessment of their integrity.

ExamWorks has received URAC Core accreditation for IME services. URAC offers a wide range of quality benchmarking programs. Achievement of Core accreditation demonstrates that ExamWorks is dedicated to meeting the highest standards of quality in the industry. In addition to the initial rigorous preparation required for the accreditation process, URAC reviewers monitor company service centers randomly at any time.
Core accreditation standards address several key organizational functions that are specific to peer review services and are important for any health care organization, including: organizational structure; staff qualifications; training and management; regulatory compliance, oversight of delegated activities; quality management; customer satisfaction and consumer protection. ExamWorks’ achievement of Core accreditation provides payors, examinees, providers, purchasers, regulators and employers assurances that our practices are quality-focused and fair and equitable for all parties.
ExamWorks was first accredited for Core in 2011.
